our 2018 travel plans…

and some favourite photos!

Walks at Lake Como

I always love an excuse to put together a post like this, particularly in these colder months. It’s the perfect excuse to reminisce on balmy Summer days and some of our favourite moments together too. As our children have got a little older (and as this blog has developed also!) we’re finding ourselves travelling more readily and, whether that’s quick little trips closer to home or longer ones further afield, we’re so enjoying this new phase of wandering!

I thought I’d share a little of our 2018 plans, and a look back at some of my favourite travel moments from the last couple of years too. You can find all our trips documented under the travel tab, and it’s a good point of reference if you’re wanting some inspiration for your own holidays this year whether local (the UK and Ireland have so many beautiful places to explore, don’t they?) or further afield.

where to next?

I was jotting down our confirmed trips for the coming months and, astoundingly, we’ve eight places on the agenda between now and August, with a couple more still in the works. We’re off to London this weekend, followed by Dublin and the West of Ireland in the coming weeks, before we head North for Easter. We spent last Easter at the beach too and the weather was beautiful. I’m hoping for more of that this year, although it’s nothing if not unpredictable in Ireland, hey? 😉

Our Summer plans are starting off with a week at Center Parcs in Woburn Forest in early July. We’ve been wanting to take the kids here for a few years now and the team there asked us to come and visit ahead of the swanky new site opening in Ireland next Spring. Our kids are basically eighty percent fish, so were completely beside themselves when I showed them the tropical swimming paradise. 🙂 I’m so looking forward to some quality family time together biking, swimming and relaxing (and there was even chat of segways so I’m all over that!)

We wanted to do something pretty special in August this year as I have a big birthday in September and Andrew and I have our fifteen year wedding anniversary in July. We’re starting off in the South of France as usual and spending a week there before flying to Rome for a few days. It’s a special spot for us as we spent some time there the year before we got married and it’s where we first completely fell for Italy. I’m looking forward to showing the kids! After that we’re planning on driving South and exploring the Amalfi coast. Our heads are currently pickled with accommodation choices and areas to stay. We’re totally open to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Capri, so if you have any suggestions I’m all ears! We love places that are close to the action (within a car drive away!) but a little more off the beaten track, so hit me up with any little towns or villages that you have loved! We’ve booked all our flights and are tied to the return journey from Naples so the search is on to find somewhere lovely. In our big Italy trip previously, Andrew and I visited Sorrento, Positano and Capri and, whilst totally beautiful, we know that they can be super touristy, particularly in the height of Summer. I’m hoping for somewhere a little further away where we can day trip to the buzz. And maybe hire a boat too!

I’m so looking forward to all our plans for the next few months. The exciting thing about doing this job (and life in general I guess!) is that you never know just where it will take you. Andrew and I were chatting the other evening about some of the amazing travel memories we have of the past couple of years. I’m so thankful to have them, and all the pictures and words that accompany them too. Here are just a few!

What utterly, utterly gorgeous photos Emma! I love following your travels and we had such a wonderful time in Jersey in 2016 after following lots of your recommendations. It sounds like you’ve got some fantastic trips planned – looking forward to following your travels on here and Instagram. We’re off to Italy this summer – Lake Maggiore – and I’m SO excited!

Emma, we are heading to Italy this July too! We’re doing a road trip around Puglia before spending some time in Sorrento and Naples! Will we all meet up for pizza?!? I can’t wait. 😀

Your photos are amazing and so are your travel plans. You lucky duck and it’s very exciting to hear centre parks are opening a site in Ireland. I can’t wait to hear more about this. We go away to centre parks Sherwood Forest on Friday however it would be so much easier if they had somewhere over here. Love you post xxx
