february goals…

see you later january!

It feels like such a blink since Christmas but I’m not sorry to see the back of January, I’ll not lie.  Ready for some February fun around here!

This year, I’m using the end of each month to reflect on some little mini goals I’m setting myself periodically.  As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’m not a big fan of huge, unachievable New Year’s resolutions.  I feel we all start with the best intentions and then in some regards set ourselves up for failure.  This feels much more manageable and so far, so good with my success rate too!

so, how did I do last month?

You can read my January post here, and I’m happy to report that I’ve ticked the boxes for (almost!) everything I had set myself to do.  I’ve been reading so much more and regularly writing three posts a week on here.  I think one is encouraging the other, and I’m really enjoying feeling inspired creatively again.  The self-care is going well too, and I’m thinking so much more about putting good things into my body (both food and the things that go in mentally as well!)

We ordered our office floor and, whilst it’s not down yet, it’s in transit.  Hoping to have it fitted within the next month or so!

This month I’m aiming to…

hand write some notes…

Handwritten Notes

The disadvantage of this digital age I think, is that the sweetest traditions often die out, and getting a letter or card in the post is one I miss the most.  I’m a self-confessed stationery junkie, and love pretty notecards, pens, and all the little details that go into creating a hand written message.  Aiming to send a few ‘just because’ letters this month, and spend the time really putting thought into words to friends and family.

random acts of kindness…

It can be so easy to get caught up in the me, me, me culture that we live in (I’m as big a culprit as anyone!)  Life moves at such a pace and there’s often little time to think about anything outside of your own little sphere.  I’m going to try hard to look up a little more this month though, and to be kind wherever possible.  It’s not always delivered in measurable ways – although I do love to give little gifts to bring a smile.  A kind word, an encouragement, the gift of time – all things that I’m trying to focus more readily on.

delete more pictures from my phone!

Phone gallery

I feel like life is a daily battle of me vs phone storage, lol!  I take so many pictures and rarely delete them off, meaning that my phone and camera memory cards are often screaming for help.  It’s such a silly little thing to even note down, but I feel it will make me accountable.  I’m notoriously dreadful at all the basic admin that comes with running a blog.  Andrew despairs at me on the regular!

and some things I’ve been loving!

by terry cc brightening serum

I discovered this back in November and, after almost finishing my first bottle, I’m totally hooked.  It’s £££ but I’m finding that I don’t need foundation with it and it acts like a tan for my face, brightening up my dull January complexion.  My skin loves it too and it smells like roses so, winner!

this little bag

I feel like it’s a Winter appropriate straw bag, and we all know how much I love one of those! 😉 Longing for Spring so that I can crack out all my lighter coloured ones too!

photo Stories

I have a total love/hate relationship with Instagram (there’s maybe a separate post in that!) but have really been enjoying Stories lots these days.  Most days I don’t feel like I have anything crucially important to say in person on there, but I’ve been trying to check in with little snippets of my day in photo form.  It’s also great for sharing things I’ve found, inspiration and outfit snaps too. Do follow over there if you’d like to see!

so that was january!

I hope you had a great one everyone!

Yay on ticking all of your January goals off and keeping at them all, especially the reading! I would love to get back into reading and hopefully in February I’ll be able to do just that and put a good dent into my bookshelf and the numerous other nooks and crannies I have tried to store all of my beautiful books that I keep meaning to read.

I have a love hate battle with Instagram and it’s stories, between my wifi cutting out or phone having a melt down I don’t get to watch as many stories or create any myself! Something hopefully I’ll do a little more regularly int e future especially during the weekends when I’m out and about adventuring.

Here’s to February, January has just been the longest!

Lovely post Emma, sounds like you’ve had a great January. Oh I am so guilty of not deleting pics from my phone too – way too many photos on there of exactly the same thing! xx

Yes!! 😀 Mine are usually 57 blurry pics of Ernie in various yawning poses. Why would I need to keep those?? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m reading The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley at the moment Jo. I’m about half way through the second one and they are really good! Not particularly taxing but brilliant if you like an easy to read family saga. There’s a mystery running through them all as well, which is gradually unravelling in each book. Would recommend! Xx

Lovely post Emma, thank you! You’ve inspired me to set some mini-goals too. Would you mind sharing any good books you’ve read? I’m making a list and love getting recommendations! Thank you x

What is it with the having to hold on to ALL the photos?! I am so guilty of this one lol.. Recent trick i tried was creating a private album on FB (as in viewable only by me) and popping all the older pics I don’t have the heart to delete in to it. Freed up space on my phone and I know they are there if I ever need them – win win 😉
