january goals

new year, new me?

When I wrote my end of year goals last month I really found it helpful in focusing my mind to actually working on them.  There’s something about writing things down that affords a bit of accountability, and when I looked back at them this week I had actually achieved all of them in some way or another.  So with that roaring success in mind 😉 I thought that it might be an idea to make this a monthly thing.  I’m going forward into 2018, not with anything major in the works, but rather lots of mini little milestones to reach for.  Achievable is definitely where it’s at for me!

read (and write!) more …

Roses and Diary

I’ve really let my reading habits fall by the wayside this past few years and yet it’s honestly one of my favourite things to do.  You’d hardly believe that I have an English Literature Honours degree and taught it for over ten years.  Time to start practicing what I preach!  Alongside that I’m really keen to develop my writing in lots of different areas.  I’m definitely not a fiction writer, but love the journalistic style of blogging, as well as memoir writing too. I tend to save my more personal posts for Instagram (you can search over there under #wordstomychildren ) but I think I might introduce a little more of that here too.  The idea I guess, is that it will be a point of reference for them in the future.  Hoping to make a start on that this January!

more self-care …

I think this is on so many of our to-do lists this new year, isn’t it?  I’m classically awful at switching off and, even when I have opportunity to take a long bath or read a magazine, I tend to find ten other things to do instead.  This month at least, I’m hoping to really value that time to relax – to switch off social media (I’ve already started turning off notifications in the evenings), light some candles, drink my water, eat more veggies, moisturise.  Simple little starters that will hopefully help with mind and body too!

fit our office floor…

Not personally, I’ll just coordinate the work and make the tea! 😉  The room is painted and we’re ready for the flooring to go down, so the goal for January is to do just that.  Andrew and I have an idea in mind of what we’d like so we’re off to investigate early next week and hopefully order it.  I’m ready to stop talking about it now, ha!

and some things I’ve been loving!

If you’re a fan of fig scents then this is definitely the one for you!

covering myself in this before bed!

I was reluctant to believe the hype but it does exactly what it says on the tin (*pot!)  The most delicious smelling moisturiser too!

researching Paris

We are off for a trip in a couple of weeks and I’m excited to squeeze in some things that we didn’t manage last time.  Any tips you have are much appreciated too!

Self-Care is definitely top of my list this year as well, but like always I tend to forgot all about taking care of myself and instead focus all my energy on others and helping them. Really going to try and focus on me though. Very excited for your trip to Paris! I’ve only been twice and absolutely adored it though I didn’t travel around it much sticking to the main tourist areas. I’m excited to see where you go and what you find!

Self care is well up there on my list this year! It’s all about balance energy and love – ways to improve it, feel it and be present! Reading more too-promised my self a book this month and already half way trough it and so pleased I’ve taken the time! Happy 2018 x

I’m the same I haven’t read in ages, so I am on the look out for a good book to get me back into reading. So if you know of any, all suggestions welcome. Oh Paris is so beautiful, do visit Sainte-Chapelle if you haven’t been, it is enchanting! Get lost in the streets of Paris. I love all the obvious attractions too Notre Dame being one of my favourites!!

    Have a lovely weekend
