styling my desk & getting motivated this january!

I’ve been in a bit of a work motivational slump these past couple of weeks.  I think January just does that to you, doesn’t it? It’s difficult to stay motivated and creative when all around you is grey and sombre.

Determined to leap right back into it though, I decided to give my desk a little makeover for the new year.  I wanted to create a space that I’d enjoy being in, and one that would leave me feeling a little more inspired too.

You might remember that back in November Andrew made me this really cool table top, which we put on some super cheap IKEA trestle legs.  I still love it every bit as much (especially its little drawers which are amazing for hiding all my makeup clutter!)  It was all looking a tiny bit masculine though, and so I’ve been gradually adding some gold and pink touches over the past few weeks to girlify it. (I just made that word up but I figure if I say it with confidence you’ll go with it, yes? 😉 )

Some pictures!

My stool is an old eBay find, which I repainted and recovered when we did our bedroom refurbish.  I’ve now added this really pretty mohair type throw from H&M Home and I love the colour and how it takes the edge off an otherwise quite hard space.  I think the key to eclectic interiors is maybe in mixing things that perhaps counteract each other – textures, colours and finishes.  It stops the whole area looking too ‘done’ and matchy matchy, but keeps things uncluttered too. (Organised clutter, that’s my jam! 😉 )

My prints here are from Sonni and Blush and Dottie Rocks Designs, and this genius little noticeboard is a recent Sainsbury’s find (in store!) thanks to all my expert friends on Instagram!

This jewellery box has been one of my favourite purchases of late.  I love how it keeps all my favourite, everyday jewels close to hand but also free from dust and products too.  The little ring holder was a gift from a neighbour and the coral ceramic bowl stores all my tiny little earrings.

I love the metallic finish on this little pear candle (it smells pretty good too!)  and the quirky edge it brings to the space.  I’m also loving this book a lot at the moment too.  Hoping some of its information transmits and I become the epitome of style and class. (One can dream!)

Whilst in Sainsbury’s I had a look at their stationery selection too, and picked up this pretty little notebook.  I’m a sucker for anything foiled at the moment and it had me at the combination of gold and pink.  So reasonably priced too!

And that’s my work space for the new season!  Here’s to the return of motivation and ticking off those to-do lists!

Love it! Have been dying to get myself over to Sainsbury’s to snag one of those wire boards, I hope they don’t sell out! Where did you get the little container you have those lovely roses in?

I absolutely love this Emma- you joke but you are the epitome of style and class! I really love your home styling and I think this desk would definitely make me feel more motivated- it’s so pretty! Feeling inspired to get my own desk space sorted (although I share it with hubby and he’s not keen on me ‘girlifying’ it X

This is such a beautiful place to get ready. I think it’s the perfect mix of feminine and masculine I love the industrial look to the table and all the shabby chic surrounding it. I am dying to do a dressing table area for my spare room for me to have a place to get ready but I can’t decide what I want. I keep thinking a plain one one drawer table and yet this is way more something I am looking for but can’t find. If you know any good ideas shoot them my way hahaha I need some advice and help been soaring over pinterest forever for some ideas. Love your touches here too. They are dreamy. I saw that on all your posts but so true.
