If anything is going to make your eyes happy, it’s a purple velvet armchair, right?
It might just be my new favourite thing to look at. 🙂
I was thinking the other day about furniture (Soft furnishings are my thing. Andrew will never get it, but I know you understand! 😉 ) and particularly the memories that are associated with each piece. I remember distinctly, buying our first sofa for our very first home and feeling very grown up all of a sudden. There’s a certain responsibility in choosing fabrics and feet, picking colours and measuring sizes. I feel like it’s maybe one of those markers in life, the insignificant but important ones, where you meaningfully put down roots, feather your nest and begin to make a home.
That poor sofa is long gone now, after many years of little bodies climbing on it, resting and cuddling on it, colouring on it (quite literally at times!) and creating a million different uses for its arms and cushions. I think fondly of it from time to time, and that crazy and cherished chapter in our lives.
When Bespoke Sofa Studio reached out, to ask us to partner with them on this styling project, I honestly couldn’t have been happier. The idea of having an involvement in creating a piece of furniture, from the framework, to the fabric and colour is just my idea of heaven. I immediately had our playroom in mind and went for a bold statement piece.
Life’s too short to not sit on all the luxe furniture we can find, am I right? 🙂
Some pictures from our playroom throughout a very lazy Sunday!
There were such an array of styles and colours to choose from in the newly launched Bespoke Sofa Studio, but I totally fell in love with the traditional shape of this one, and teamed it with this gorgeous, rich purple velvet. I love everything about it, from the button back to the generous size (room for four at a pinch!) It’s the perfect statement piece to brighten up our space and the whole construction process – from choosing designs to delivery – was super speedy and straightforward.
There’s something about creating furniture to suit your home and your personality that make it extra special and unique. A far cry from overwhelming and impersonal furniture showrooms, and tailored to suit the needs of the phase of life you are in.
And as for us? Well, I say bring on the purple velvet years!
