and some Spring style picks!
March, where are you disappearing to?
I think the cold weather and unseasonal dreariness has me thinking we’re still somewhere back in the middle of January, but Spring is officially (if not obviously!) here and I’m keeping positive in these early weeks by focusing on all the plans we have for the next few months ahead.
I haven’t put together a Friday Five post in a few weeks now (hello awful sickness and general life mayhem!) so I thought I’d get back on track with one this week. I hope you are well!
I’ve been totally living in these little ruffled blouses this month. I bought the pink version first and then went back for the polka dot one too because, Emma and polka dots are a match made in heaven. 🙂 I’ve had so much wear out of them both and they instantly dress up a jeans and boots outfit without looking too ‘done’.
I’ve also been wearing my pretty Merci Maman Mother’s Day necklace, which the brand really sweetly sent me. It has the kids names engraved and is in the longer length too, which suits my style so perfectly.
We spent last weekend at Blessingbourne Estate and, despite the cold, it was so lovely to be out in the midst of the forest. I’ve written a whole post on our stay here, and I’d really recommend taking a look if you are after a family break, particularly if you have children of the canine variety too!
This month has passed in a total whirl of home projects, trips and meetings. We’ve been working hard at finishing off the office (our radiator arrives this weekend so I’m looking forward to not losing a few fingers to frostbite every time I set foot in there!) as well as updating our playroom a little too. I have bigger plans for in here, perhaps later in the Autumn time, but for now it looks tidier (well, mostly!) and ready for the school holidays!
In terms of work projects, I have a few things coming up that I’m both excited and nervous about in equal measure. I’ve been working on more photography and styling jobs lately and I’m really enjoying that whole change of pace, and a little more time away from the social media side of things. It can be intense in that social world, and very often the pressure of being scrutinised takes its toll. It’s quite nice to step back for a bit and do something that is about someone else for a change. Does that make sense?
Aside from that, there is potentially something really exciting creatively in the works. I can’t say too much just yet as we’re ironing out all the details at present, but if it comes off it will be a little marrying together of writing and my love of interiors. I’ve been thinking about it for some time now so just crossing my fingers that we can make it work!
And last (but certainly not least!) I was so thrilled to write for Mighty Mothering this week. It’s a collaborative project started by my friend Steph which aims to share stories from different mums at different stages of motherhood. If you haven’t checked it out you can read my entry on Self Centred Motherhood over there now. We also recorded a podcast which was so fun! I do say ‘doyouknow’ such a lot though! 😉
We’re heading to the very North of Ireland for Easter (my post from there last year is here!) and I’m so looking forward to a few days at the sea. There aren’t many trips that we’ve been on lately that haven’t been work based for me, so I’m planning on totally switching off over Easter weekend. We’ve also finalised our Summer plans too and booked all our accommodation finally. I can’t wait for it all!
We made Thai Red Chicken Soup from Jamie Oliver’s Five Ingredients the other week and it was so delicious. I have a real craving to whip it up this weekend again! We also tried the chicken stirfry and, even though it’s a tiny bit dry (I think just triple the sauce quota if you are making it!) actually everyone here ate it. And with my kids that’s a total achievement!
I hope you’ve had a really lovely week. I’ve done a massive update over on my shopping pages this week, so do check those out if you’re in need of some Spring Style, Interiors and Accessory inspiration. You can also shop some of my top picks below.
Have the best weekend!
