So, it’s finally here! A brand new year and with it a brand new home for me too. I couldn’t be more thrilled with this new space and the first day of 2018 seemed like the perfect time to launch it – new beginnings in lots of ways! 🙂
I started thinking about a rebrand back in the Summer and, as is typical of me nowadays, nothing ever happens too quickly. I’m becoming much more cautious in my old age, and deliberated for so long over a name change and then over all the details that make up the whole. I’m so pleased with how it has all turned out though, and Andrew and my lovely friend Sian have had plentiful ten pm email chats about all the finer details. They are amazing and I can take no credit for any of it. Very thankful for my little team of tech people who know just how to make my vision a reality!
so, what’s new?
We were really keen for the navigation to be both straightforward and simple to use. You’ll find my most recent and favourite posts in the top slider, and category buttons where you can easily access content on Interiors, Travel, and Life and Style. I have so much to share in all of these areas in the coming months. The map on the side bar keeps note of where we’re checking in from, and the Home Tour section will no doubt be updated as we make changes and finish parts of Little Wood gradually.
I’ve included a shop section now too, which will allow you to browse any recent buys, as well as my ever increasing lust list. There’s also a little section for gift shopping, inspired by the lovely response to my gift guides in the past. I’ll be updating these weekly so do check back regularly!
why Amble and Ash?
I think a name change has been imminent for quite a while now, especially as our family life and dynamic changes in these latter years. I wanted to move away from being so place specific, into a space that could encompass a bit more of my own growth going forward. There are areas that I’d love to develop in the future and my blog is a portfolio of sorts for that. Its a way of storing and recording memories, but also a conduit for creativity and developing my own writing and photography style. I’ve been doing this for almost four years now, and the difference since those early days is crazy. A fresh start seemed the natural progression, and it was very much now or never!
Amble and Ash came about because of our love of travel (the amble part) and also our strong ties to the ash trees of home (Little Wood is still very much at the heart of everything we do here!) I loved the sound and the softness of it, and I think it still very much evokes the essence of country living. I hope so anyway!
what does 2018 have in store?
Who knows really? That’s the exciting part, eh?
I hope many, many more posts and connections with you guys. I’m continually blown away by how genuinely supportive you are, both here and elsewhere and it’s always the very best part of this all for me. I was writing and sharing for many years before there were fancy websites and shop sections and slick pictures, and I’d still be doing it if all those things disappeared tomorrow. Shared experiences, understandings, advice, challenges – these are the things that make blogs and social media such special tools. They’re not without their disadvantages of course but, on balance, the good always outweighs the negative for me. The ‘me too’s’, the damp eyes or fire in your belly when something strikes a chord. The things that are said and the things that are known.
We are so much more alike than we are different.
So here’s to another year chums. Here’s to Amble and Ash and Life at the Little Wood too (what a gal she was!) Here’s to new chapters and fresh starts and the first day in this sparkly new month.
Wishing you the most peaceful and prosperous year ahead. I hope you’ll visit here often.
I’m excited to get started.
