the perfect country christmas

with Cox and Cox… #ad

Decorating our home for the festive season has always been one of my very favourite things to do. When we were designing our home, and even buying previous homes before that, we always considered where our tree would go, and eagerly anticipated seeing it in place each year. As time has gone on, the decorating has spread throughout our house (and I’ve a new office to kit out this year too!) and it’s an excuse for me to be a bit creative and really embrace the season.
When Cox and Cox contacted me way back in June, to work on their Christmas campaign this year, I leapt at the chance to do so. If you follow along regularly, you’ll know that they are one of my favourite interiors brands, and have been since we had our very first home. I’m not ashamed to admit that I model our home on a lot of their catalogue images, taking inspiration from the beautiful soft colour palettes and natural textures. I’m not sure that there is any better fit for me in terms of a brand style, and I’ve been so excited to show you these images.
I chose a range of items from their beautiful New Neutral range, and the combination of wood, jute, brown paper, ceramics and wool fit so perfectly in our playroom space.

the tree!

When space is limited but you don’t want to compromise on the festive cheer, this hanging tree is absolutely perfect. I chose to keep our look very minimal, with some hanging snowflakes and neutral glass baubles, paired with fresh eucalyptus stems for a little touch of Winter green (also the smell is incredible!) I love how the branches are frosted already, and the perfect blank canvas. You could keep it simple like I have done, or go to town with colour and design, adding little wire lights for a bit of added sparkle too.

everything in its place…

Rather than a mass of presents below this type of contemporary tree, I opted to fill these olive green metal trunks instead. I love them for now, stacked with smaller gifts and advent treats, and come January they will be amazing for storing extra toys and games that the kids might receive. There is never enough storage ever, am I right?

wrap it up!

Reversible wrapping paper though? Game changer! I came across this dot and star reversible gift wrap and couldn’t believe I had never seen this before! Amazing for coordinating your gifts under the tree, and I love the old school brown paper feel and the rustic look, especially when teamed with the wide jute ribbon too. I’ll be adding little sprigs of holly, eucalyptus and fir to mine, for a really pretty touch.

cosy down!

It doesn’t get much better in Winter, than a roaring fire, a hot drink, warm socks and the softest blanket to cuddle up in (add a pup and a good book and I’m not moving ever.) This super chunky knit throw is literally the most luxurious blanket I’ve ever owned, and I love the natural shade and the beautiful weightiness to the wool. Noah is also a fan. 😉

star of wonder

I always try to run a similar theme through our house at Christmas time, and to choose colours that are really in keeping with what we have already. This little corner of our hallway is often quite dark, especially in the Winter months, and so I’ll be brightening it up with these indoor/ outdoor star silhouette lights. I think they would look so pretty on our doorstep too, especially if we get a dusting of snow this year (do you remember the snow of last December? Incredible!) and I might move them outdoors closer to the big day. They’d be so lovely hung in a porch as well, to welcome visitors over the Christmas period.

This year feels like it has flown by at breakneck speed. I can barely believe that I’m talking about Christmas again already. But if there’s one time of year worth extending for as long as possible, I think perhaps it is this most magical one. Whether you jump on board with your decorating in mid November, or are a Christmas Eve traditionalist, I hope you have the most wonderful time putting it all together.

Cox & Cox has always been one of my favourite ‘go to’ places for interiors. I drool over their catalogue when it lands on my doormat! These are all so gorgeous Em, that trunk with the rose gold hinges is dreamy. I also really like the lit up stars and agree that they would look perfect on a doorstep. I’m struggling to get Christmassy this year but looking at your post, I’m excited to delve in!
